Benefits Of The Shrugs Exercise

This is a back and neck exercise that strengthens those muscles that enable you to lift things and keep your head aligned, and is an excellent addition to any fitness routine.

Before doing this dumbbell exercise first read the "How Much Weight Should We Lift In Our Strength Exercise Programs?" section before starting this workout.

Workout Procedure

  1. Stand straight with your feet about shoulder width apart, and your head aligned with your back
  2. Hold the dumbbells at your sides with your arms straight and palms facing inward
  3. Breathe in
  4. As you breathe out, raise your shoulders toward your ears

  5. Lower your shoulders to the starting position and relax your muscles as you breathe in
  6. Do 8 to 12 repetitions
  7. Do this exercise 3 times a week, every other day
